The Campo Rotaliano is a delimited geographical area and lies as an indentation of the Adige Valley between two mountain ridges. Its formation is inextricably linked to the Noce River, which has been carrying limestone, granite and porphyry debris for centuries. Within the Campo Rotaliano, different microzones can be distinguished according to their soil characteristics, which have been given different names by the winegrowers.

The name Granato refers to the pomegranate, which, like grapes, is often found in the Mediterranean. The name "Granato" is derived from this association, which draws its special concentration and density from the stony soils of Campo Rotaliano. Grown on around four hectares spread over three sites, it grows on old pergolas in Mezzolombardo on alluvial soil, gravel and pebbles. Spontaneously fermented in large open vats, it is then aged in tonneau for 15 months before maturing in bottle for another 15 months. Annual production averages. 20,000 bottles

Color

Dark purple with violet reflections and black core.

Nose

The 2019 Granato from Foradori has an expansive nose with dark fruits of blackberries, mulberries, elderberries and black cherries, complemented by dried plums, black pepper and juniper berries. Floating and balanced, the aromas change like a kaleidoscope in constant flux. The floral notes typical of Teroldego appear timidly at first, which is why it is recommended to pour it upside down into the carafe for optimised aroma development. In its youthful stage, it is best to drink it the day before - the Granato can easily take it a bit rougher.

Mouth

With velvety regalia, it drapes itself plushly over the palate like the crimson train of a benevolent regent, proclaiming to the inclined tippler its status as the undisputed sovereign of the grape variety. On the palate, it mirrors the aromas of the nose, oscillating between dark-fruited ecstasy and filigree understatement. It gracefully combines the extract-rich fruit with noble tannin and the aristocratic acidity that accompanies it into the majestically long finish. The Granato benefits from a minimum of five years of bottle ageing until it fully reveals its assets.
