Fincas de Ganuza Reserva is made only from the destemmed shoulders of the best grapes from vines between 25 and 40 years old. Hand-picked, transported in 12 kg crates to thermo-regulated cold chambers followed by storage for 24 hours. Meticulous selection of the grapes again on the sorting table and separation of the grapes into shoulders and tops. Spontaneous fermentation in small stainless steel tanks and 7000 litre French oak vats. The cuvée consists of 95% Tempranillo and 5% Graciano and was aged for 25 months in new and used 95% French and 5% American oak barrels.
Color
Garnet red with a dark core.
Nose
The 2015 Fincas de Ganuza Reserva shows a clear character of origin without ornamentation and folklore. The flawless fruit is embedded in a spicy cloud of smoky notes, leather, peat and liquorice. Underneath, the ripe cherry sparkles like a ruby as well as blackberries and plum jam, pulsating and pure-toned. A modern Rioja without fault.
Mouth
With immediate response on the palate, the youthful and polished tannins envelop the fully ripe, juicy fruit. With generous fullness, it rolls out like a red carpet on the palate, lined by the filigree interwoven acidity. Ripe with polished tannin, it builds up elevated pressure and, despite its accessibility and hedonistic drinking trait, reveals itself as a wine conceived with a long-term perspective. A few years of bottle ageing will then allow it to blossom into full grandeur.
