Wine information
Adrien Roustan is deeply rooted in Vacqueras, where he owns the majority of his vineyards. For this particular wine, he has focused on the best selection of his plots, located in the Hautes Garrigues with red clay gravel and in the counterparts where blue and yellow marl predominate. Each of these terroirs has its own character and gives the wine its individual touch: the garrigues lend finesse and minerality, while the pendants bring strength and depth. The vineyard in question was planted in 1950, growing 80% Grenache, 5% each of Syrah, Cinsault, Carignan and Mourvèdre. For this wine, however, Roustan relies on 65% Grenache and 20% Syrah, complemented by 5% each of Cinsault, Carignan and Mourvèdre. All grapes for the production of this wine were pressed and fermented quickly, the development of the wine took place in concrete tanks.

Color
A medium ruby red characterises this wine.

Nose
Roustan's interpretation of the Vacqueras-Terroir grape is particularly evident in the aroma of this wine, which he has tapped into with an impressive Grenache profile. The bouquet is aromatic, with ripe raspberries, hints of fig and wild strawberries. There are also notes of liquorice, herbs de Provence, some earth and dog rose. Interestingly, the decision not to de-stem the grapes has introduced the specific aroma of stems and stalks into the wine.

Palate
On the tongue, the wine reveals itself to be a real seducer. The Grenache vines, which have claimed their place of origin since 1950, give the wine depth, harmony and minerality. It is exceptionally balanced and structured, yet almost surprisingly supple. Its fine ripe berry fruit and exceptionally fine tannins glide across the palate. The acidity is ripe, yet lively, and the stems provide a refreshing addition that rounds out Vacquera's flavour profile. This is a wine that shines with its freshness, elegance and ease of drinking.

Alternatives to food recommendations
Enjoy this wine together with a traditional coq au vin, a ratatouille or a veal stew with black olives and tomatoes.
