Tasting note from dated 21.12.2020, Copyright André Dominé

White top cuvée based on Vermentinu with the rare varieties Brustianu, Biancu Gentile, Genovese and Rossola Bianca. Production 4000 bottles. After whole cluster pressing of each variety, there is a static pre-clarification of 24 to 48 hours before the wines ferment spontaneously separately in demi-muids of 600 litres. After nine months of aging in tank on the full lees, Jean-Charles composes the cuvée from the best lots and then ages it for another two months before bottling. Diplomate impresses with intensity and elegance. The aromas of the macchia combine with peaches, pears and tropical fruits. But what makes the wine so special is its density, energy, minerality and immense length.

Color

Very light gold with light green reflections

Nose

Dense and closed at first, very gradually it begins to open up with the scent of chamomile, broom and lemon blossoms, then ripe peaches and melons - spoiled by the sun - emerge, but also mirabelles and red apples, with a fine sweetness resonating. More air brings out apricot flavors, also stewed peaches, grilled oranges and notes of anise and pine needles. It definitely deserves to be decanted and requires some patience and special attention.

Taste

Silky, full, velvety attack, very creamy texture. This Diplomate immediately fills the mouth with wonderful intensity, penetrating to the very tip of the palate with its ripe sweet yellow naturally spicy fruit, again with subtle peppery bitter notes and an accent of umani. With more air, flavors of banana, quince, lemon zest, lightly candied lemon introduce themselves, along with the typical accents of scrubland and a hint of blond tobacco. With all maturity, the Diplomat has preserved freshness and tension and thus an excellent balance and goes with striking salty minerality into the excellent length.
