Il Corzanello Rosso is a cuvée of Sangiovese, Cabernet Sauvignon and, depending on the year, a dash of Merlot. The grapes from the coldest plots are harvested by hand and brought to the winery chilled. There they are crushed, destemmed and then macerated for around five days. Fermentation takes place spontaneously with the grapes' own yeasts at between 18 and a maximum of 22°C. The maceration is relatively short so as not to extract too many tannins. The alcoholic fermentation is followed by malolactic fermentation and five months of ageing in steel.
Color
Deep ruby red with a violet shimmer.
Nose
The nose of the 2022 Il Corzanello Rosso from Fattoria Corzano e Paterno always impresses with flawless cherry and is underpinned by spicy aromas. Dried plums and some cassis, blackcurrant leaves and blackberry leaves as well as ground black pepper and bay leaf lurk underneath. Graphite, freshly sharpened pencil and a slightly smoky note complete the joyful round dance.
Mouth
Joyful, fresh and juicy, the wine combines its distinctive cherry fruit with fine-grained tannins and a wide-ranging acidity. With the rapid flow of a white wine, it is the ideal all-rounder for everyday drinking during the week. Red-fruity and animating, it fills all goblets at any time. Tuscany benchmark, red and white chequered of course.
