The cuvée of 80% Viura and 20% Malvasia is supported by everything else that grows in the vineyard. Handpicking of the average of 60-year-old vines, transport in boxes of 12 kg to thermoregulated cold chambers followed by storage for 24 hours. Selection again on the sorting table, extraction of the free-running juice with the help of a rotor depot. The wine is aged together with the lees for 8 months in new barrels, batonnage is done by regularly turning the entire barrels.
Color
Bright pale yellow with lime green reflections.
Nose
The 2018 Rioja blanco from Remírez de Ganuza flaunts an opulent fruity bouquet in stately regalia. Ripe apricots, reenklodes, vineyard peaches and grapefruit zest march ahead full of fruit, some new French wood and a few dried kitchen herbs like sage, lemon thyme and wormwood flank the fruity, cheerful conglomerate. A classic case for the big glasses.
Mouth
With a creamy texture, high inner density and fine melting, the elegantly integrated wood combines well with the overall appearance and balances the expansive fruit on the palate. With a self-confident appearance and powerful phenolic contour, the acidity is perfectly integrated and carries it into a fruity, tart finish with stimulating tart herbal notes in the reverberation. A carafe or a few years of bottle ageing would suit it well.
