Wine information
The blanc de noir comes from the Pinot Noir from Bertram-Baltes' Ahr vineyards. The grapes were pressed directly as whole clusters, fermented spontaneously and matured in 600-litre tonneaux.
Color
intense straw yellow
Nose
The Blanc de Noir - Old vines - smells like a still young Chardonnay at cru level. If I didn't know better, I would guess Meursault. There is already a lot of energy in the fragrance. In addition to a clear but subtle woody note, I find notes of
grated oyster shell and lime, a hint of flint and bright green notes of lemons, apples, green plums, white currants and almond olives. Cool on the nose, yet sensual and extremely appetising.
Palate
On the palate this Blanc de Noir - Old Vines - Electrifying, mineral, vibrant and clear, yet powerful and punchy. Blood young - you can also tell by the wood imprint - but very precise, bright with green and citrusy yellow fruits. In addition, there is the iodine, the saltiness, which once again promotes the drinking flow. Above all, there is an impressive tension and an electrifying tonic component. Benedikt Baltes has always attached great importance to the class of his Blanc de Noir. His Old vines are probably the best you can get from this type of wine today.
