Color
In rich, dark ruby red and with a black core, the wine appears clear and shiny in the glass.
Nose
This contemporary garnacha from a 1958 plantation winkingly refuses to be one-sidedly fruity. In a hearty manner, its dark berry notes of sour cherry, cranberry and sea buckthorn are underpinned by insistent spice. This exposes its essence through peppery notes of allspice, grilled chili and cubeb pepper, as well as the earthy depth of peaty autumn leaves and fresh truffles. Plus; a mini splash of bergamot.
Palate
As on the nose, so on the palate, the 2013 Vina de Aranbelza from Laderas de Montejurra emerges as a mine of wine with much of value to discover. Taut, yet fine-grained tannins, coupled with an acidity that instills vitality and coolness, give its perceived lean yet powerful body precision and concentrated assertiveness along the way. Karg, stony and unashamedly the salivation stimulating he sounds long after.
Not only Garnacha friends let this wine open their hearts by taking them into its world.
