Color
Muted violet-red, colour-dense to the rim.
Nose
The 2018 Barbera d'Alba Vigna Veccia Scarrone is truly seductive, with lots of fresh and sweet fruit coming out of the glass in the form of raspberries, sour cherries, plums and blueberry pie. Its floral fragrance is also beguiling, reminiscent of violets, rose petals and elderflowers. Spicy notes of cinnamon, clove and vanilla further underpin its charm.
Palate
On the palate, too, this Barbera is a delight, juicy fruit pairs with fine fruit sweetness and an extremely invigorating acidity. The complete impression on the palate is rich in finesse and is permeated by a mineral-salty trace, its tannin is extremely fine-grained. A wine that joyfully and unbelievably whets the appetite for Italian classics. Very good ageing potential!
