Wine information

This Muscadet de Sèvre et Maine from the Melon de Bourgogne variety comes from a vineyard planted in 1974 in the village of Vallet. The vineyard is characterised by mica schist as well as gneiss with inclusions of mica from the Armoricain massif. The name of the vineyard is Vera Cruz.

The grapes, harvested by hand, were pressed in a pneumatic press, with the strength and duration of the pressing adapted to the vintage. This was followed by spontaneous fermentation with natural yeasts, then fermentation and ageing on the lees in underground, glass-lined cement cuves for seven months. No racking until bottling.

Nose

The Vera Cruz opens with a scent of green and yellow apples, white peach and a hint of gooseberries. In addition, there is a little salt and iodine, as if they came wafting in from the Atlantic. In addition to white flowers and rocks, one can also perceive some creamy notes. All in all, it is very coherent, lively and stimulating.

Palate

On the palate the Vera Cruz 2021 Elegant and fine with a pleasant energy and depth. What already seemed so coherent in the fragrance is even more balanced and complex here. In fact, the Vera Cruz this creaminess already assumed in the nose. In addition, there is a fine herbal and rocky spiciness with a very fine tannin grip. The slight saltiness is also there again and stimulates the drinking flow of the already generous, juicy Muscadet. It is a bright and spicy, silky and fresh, juicy and, especially in the finish, very mineral wine. Great!
