Wine information

This exquisite Champagne comes from the borders of the Marne Valley to the Montagne de Reims and shows the unique character of the vineyards in Cuchery, Baslieux, Leuvrigny, Troissy and Mareuil le Port. These sites are characterised by calcareous clay and alluvial soils - a composition that is superbly reflected in the final product. With a main share of Meunier (84%) and a smaller share of Chardonnay grapes (16%), this cuvée is captivating. 39 % reserve wines contribute to its complexity, while intense oak ageing adds depth and character. With only 2 grams of dosage, freshness and lightness are maintained. The champagne was disgorged on 23 September 2022.

Color

The colour is an appealing medium straw yellow with a touch of elegance; fine mousseux completes the overall picture.

Nose

On the nose, Terre d'Irizée manifests subtle aromas of white flowers, lemon peel, kaffir lime leaves and green almonds. In addition, one discovers hints of crushed rock that seems to have been drizzled with a drop of lemon juice.

Palate

The cuvée has an impressive presence and purity on the palate, highlighted by bright, well-defined citrusy fruitiness and an elegant, subtle hint of yeast and brioche. This Champagne pulses with energy and tension, yet is perfectly balanced by a fine juiciness of exotic fruit and a hint of a little crumbly apple. A certain stony quality, already evident on the nose, is also reflected on the palate. The Terre d'Irizée is a little more refined on the palate than on the nose, which adds to its appeal, and presents a surprisingly charming muscular yet lean structure.

Food recommendations

Try this champagne with oysters au gratin or with black pudding and scallops with apple and thyme butter - a treat for the palate. Another good option would be yellowfin tuna escabeche served with aubergine puree and fresh herbs.
