Location information

The 1.5 ha site was planted at an altitude of 400 m in a south/south-west orientation in the 1960s.

Terroir

Saint Romain is characterized by clay and limestone.

Information on the expansion

Hand harvest with a yield of 38-42hl/ha, fermentation in used barriques for 12 months, of which 0-5% new, 5000 bottles total production.

Color

Bright, sparkling golden yellow.

Nose

The 2017 Saint-Romain Blanc presents itself expressive and at the same time very filigree in the nose. Much minerality combines with smoky and slightly bacony nuances. If you give it air, animating citrus fruits, their zests, apple, peach and mirabelle, notes of pastry, vanilla and spicy honey emerge. These give it fullness and complexity already at the first smell.

Palate

If you take it on the tongue, it literally overpowers it with its animating acidity, lots of minerality and saltiness. Its precise citrus and apple fruit is very nicely integrated into the creamy palate. The fine finish is marked by dried oyster shell and seaweed. A wine that already seems approachable in its youthful stage and opens up a wide field for exciting wine and food pairings.
