Let us look at the wine
This exquisite Rosso di Montalcino springs from the fertile soils of the Podere Brizio vineyard, located a few kilometres southwest of Montalcino. The vines enjoy a mix of marl, limestone, sand and clay soils, all strongly influenced by their maritime surroundings. This 100%ige Sangiovese Grosso, has enjoyed organic certification and spontaneous fermentation since 2015. After fermentation, the wine was aged in the traditional way for twelve months in 5.4-hl Slavonian oak barrels, followed by a resting period in the bottle.

Appearance
It presents itself in an invitingly radiant ruby red that appears almost transparent in its clarity.

Scent perception
The 2020 vintage of Podere Brizio Rosso di Montalcino is characterised by its distinctive aromas that are both ripe and warm. Sweet cherries mingle with notes of pickled strawberries and raspberries, underpinned by a slight astringency of dried herbs and a pinch of leather, forest and earthy warmth.

Taste experience
An impressive symphony of bright red fruits complemented by a juicy acidity that sets a wonderfully lively accent, accompanied by a fine-boned tannin framework. On the deeper note, aromas of sweet cherries, raspberries and cranberry compote unfold into a vital minerality that systematically reveals a subtle saltiness.

Here are some alternative pairings that could complement this wine: Try it with a foraged Tuscan casserole of lamb, veal and duck, or a rich lasagne packed with a selection of vegetables and truffle cheese. Risotto with smoked garlic and rosemary or a handmade pizza with spicy salami and creamy buffalo mozzarella could also be wonderful partners.
