Nose
An animating, subtle, finely fruity Riesling scent rises from the glass. Spontaneously, the Muschelkalk Riesling is reminiscent of Mozart's Divertimenti The Riesling appears light and playful, but beneath this cheerful surface is a complex and dense composition.
Palate
On the palate, the wine delivers a very impressive performance of layered fruit and herbal spice, acidity and tannin. The Muschelkalk offers a lot of grip, an enormous juiciness and a depth that, one might think, reaches far into the rock. The spice, the rock and the texture are here - as actually always with Andreas Schumann's wines - in the foreground and are rounded off by a pleasantly warm yellow core fruit, but above all by citrus fruits like bitter oranges, grapefruit and kumquats an excellent Palatinate Riesling of this vintage and - even if it is not written on the label - a really great growth.
