The scenery
Our journey takes us to the edge of the Haard, where the vineyards stretch gently from the flatlands of the Rhine plain to the idyllic Palatinate Forest. The sun beams down on the southern side of the Siebeldinger site Im Sonnenschein; a vineyard that stretches at an altitude of between 160 and 250 metres, with a slope gradient of 5 to 20 %. In an exclusive production, the Riesling plays the leading role on a shell limestone soil from the Triassic epoch. An ample 24-hour maceration is followed by destemming, followed by careful pre-clarification and natural sedimentation. The noble drop ferments in stainless steel and then spends six months on the fine lees, which completes the development process.

The colour
A medium straw yellow catches the eye, promises nuanced taste experiences and invites thorough discovery.

The fragrance
Although many wines of the current vintage seem rather cool, the Riesling Im Sonnenschein takes a different path. It radiates a juicy, almost floating sweetness of ripe fruit that dominates the bouquet. This particular Grosses Gewächs is characterised by notes of lemon cream and white flowers, complemented by hints of pear, apple, apple skin and carambola. Also noticeable are subtle tones of smoke and mint that add complexity to the overall fragrance.

The taste
This Grosses Gewächs comes across as juicy, bright and inviting on the palate, filled with intense acidity and vibrant energy. The palate turns to a fresher, more citrusy profile that stands out with pressure and plenty of salt. The shell limestone soil on which the Riesling grows fully unfolds in this wine, combining its strength with a fine creaminess and giving the whole an impressive structure. In addition to the bright fruit and tightening acidity, one finds a pleasantly firm tannin that gives the Riesling a lot of structure.

Matching dishes
Try it with a few matching dishes: a finely tuned sea bass with pistachio cream, a salmon tartare with lemon sorbet, passion fruit and parsley, or grilled aubergine with sesame seeds and labneh. This fine drop perfectly accompanies and accentuates the flavours of these dishes.
