Pale yellow with white-golden reflections.
On the nose, the 2012 Windsbuhl Riesling from Zind Humbrecht has crystalline clarity and finesse. Delicate notes of flowers make the start, followed by honey, fennel pollen and quince jelly. Saffron and nashi pear, grapefruit zest and a bit of fat white bacon with no smoke follow on its heels. Hedonistic stuff.
On the palate, the wine is polished with super juicy fruit and a virbrating texture. Juice and pressure kick things off, followed by a grippy mouthfeel thanks to the distinct minerality that supports this wine like a solid foundation cast in cement. Long, cool finish with sweet fennel pollen in the aftertaste.
