Wine information
The hand-picked grapes for this Chardonnay come from the Freudshofer vineyard in Jois. This is an extremely chalky site on the Leithagebirge with a southern exposure. The Chardonnay was pressed as a whole bunch, fermented spontaneously and aged for ten months on the full lees in 800-litre wooden barrels.
Color
rich straw yellow
Nose
The Chardonnay from the Freudshofer vineyard is a finely chiselled Chardonnay that combines a little reduction notes so typical today with those of lime and lemon juice and zest, crisp apples, some hay, oats and crushed lime.
Palate
On the palate, one has the impression that the reductive notes are even a little more present than on the palate. However, this is great fun; because these banger flavours combine with a note of brioche, of butter and lemon cream, without seeming lush in the actual sense. The clear, lean acidity and the fine minerality make sure of that. In the long finish, the Freudshofer a juicy, slightly citrusy, silky Chardonnay with volume, depth and clear structure.
