Wine information
The label indicates the individual parcels in the Pfersigberg. Grand P is the abbreviation for Grand Cru Pfersigberg in Eguisheim. The full designation may not be written out, as grand cru in Alsace only applies to white grape varieties. The site is characterised by limestone and sandstone. The vines are about 35 years old. The proportion of whole grapes used is mostly 20 %. The same applies to the proportion of new barriques.
Color
translucent ruby
Nose
The Grand P is a subtle, elegant Alsatian Pinot Noir that knows how to combine a clear red and also dark berry fruit with fine hints of mint, undergrowth, some foliage and a hint of stems. The Pinot Noir appears open and inviting, finding more and more depth with air.
Mouth
On the palate, the still young Pinot Noir appears silky, fine and elegant. The wood management is perfect and quite discreet and serving. The fruit appears juicy and offers a slight extract sweetness without becoming obtrusive. The vintage provides a pleasant acidity in the expression of tart red berries. This is accompanied by a round tannin. This is a charming Grand P with a fine melting and spiciness. It perhaps does not seem quite as deep and complex as the Grand Hbut with a little more finesse. A true gourmandise on a very high level.
