Wine Description for Siebeldingen Riesling from Muschelkalk 2022 by Ökonomierat Rebholz

Colour & Appearance
Medium golden yellow with luminous green reflections – a visual promise of freshness and youthfulness.
Nose
Stimulating clarity defines this Riesling: apple and citrus in the foreground, followed by mandarin. With air contact, an additional dimension of pineapple, apricot and delicate white flowers unfolds. Yet the true foundation is formed by the pronounced Muschelkalk minerality, which lends the wine remarkable depth and density.
Palate
The vibrant acidity dances elegantly on the tongue, perfectly embedded in a saline-mineral texture that impressively reflects the Muschelkalk subsoil. The juicy fruit harmonises wonderfully with the stony precision. At a moderate 11% alcohol, the wine remains light-footed and inviting to drink – a Riesling that tempts you to take the next sip.
Finish
Long, mineral and persistent. The saline freshness lingers and leaves you wanting another glass.
Terroir & Origin
Hailing from Siebeldingen in the South Palatinate, this Riesling benefits from the calcareous soils that give it its characteristic mineral signature. Ökonomierat Rebholz is counted among the most renowned wine estates in the region and masterfully understands how to capture the terroir in the bottle.
Grape Variety & Vinification
Classic Riesling with 24 hours of skin contact, natural clarification through sedimentation and maturation in stainless steel tank – a purist vinification that preserves the fruit and minerality unadulterated.
Food Pairing Recommendations
The saline minerality makes it an ideal companion for goat’s cheese with beetroot carpaccio and pomegranate, pan-fried prawns with wild herb salad or zander-salmon roulade with Riesling butter. Also an excellent choice with oysters or scallops.
Special Features
Decanting is worthwhile – the wine opens up beautifully and remains fresh and youthful even after several days. Equipped with very good ageing potential, it will gain in complexity in the years to come.
