Wine information
The Riesling was pressed in 2015 in the twelve-metre-long and 350-year-old tree press in a process lasting more than ten hours. After 18 months in large 2,000-litre barrels, it was bottled. The Riesling comes from loam, loess and paragneiss.
Color
light golden yellow
Nose
The 2015 Riesling from the tree press is an approachable, heart-warming, deep and unagitated Riesling. Aromatically, it combines ripe yellow pome and stone fruit with
Calamansi cream, lanolin and a little rock. Add to this the typical scent of ripe Riesling along with ripe white and yellow flowers. The fragrance alone is a delight.
Mouth
On the palate, the pleasure continues seamlessly. This is a Riesling that is solid in maturity and fruit, with a silky ripe acidity that nevertheless has a very good tension that comes from the deep minerality. It is a Riesling with elegance and finesse. The fruit comes across as white and yellow-fleshed with a little bit of citrus and a distinctly spicy-herbal component. To the 2012 Tree press I wrote "One can only take one's hat off and pour oneself the next glass, drop the pen and go over to meditation". I can only repeat that here.
