Nose
The Zibibbo by Marco de Bartoli from the 2020 vintage smells wonderfully fruity, playful and summery light. In a very youthful way, the Zibibbo - also known as Muscat d'Alexandrie - dances happily in the glass. Grapefruit, lime and lychee vie for aromatic supremacy alongside passion fruit and mango. Oven-roasted quince and ripe pear also make an appearance in this fruity mix. The aromas of citrus fruits bring freshness into play. A hint of rose petals adds floral playfulness.
Palate
Pietranera is much more serious on the palate. Its delicate 11.5 % vol. are a masterstroke in these latitudes. The fruit is now compact and rather characterised by cool to stony components. The acid structure has a pleasant bite. It appears taut and filigree. For all its warmth and fruit intensity, Pietranera also provides plenty of fresh, elegant attributes. Fortunately, this Sicilian experiences an almost salty nature that lingers on the palate for a long time. This provides sensory excitement and variety.
