Wine information
From the hands of Oliver Humbrecht comes this exclusive drop, whose origin lies in a secluded vineyard in the immediate vicinity of GC Goldert in Gueberschwihr. Selected grapes from the Hengst, Goldert and Clos Windsbuhl vineyards also find their place in this unique composition. These sites all have old vines; young vines are brought in where and when necessary. At harvest time, they are carefully separated from the older plants. A common denominator of all vines is the limestone soil on which they thrive. Gewürztraminer wines want to soak up sunlight, but also feel cooler soil under their roots to maintain their acidity. The limestone found here helps them in particular to develop a spicy, rather restrained style that is more on the mineral than the floral side - precisely this characteristic is what this wine is aiming for.

Expansion details
The 2020 harvest was characterised by the absence of noble rot, resulting in healthy grapes and a fast, dry fermentation.

Color
An intense radiant golden yellow captivates the eye.

Smell
The Gewurztraminer Roche Calcaire from 2020 comes up trumps with a strong mineral note, interspersed with spicy hints of anise, cardamom and dried ginger. A wonderful fruitiness comes from the association with orange peel, ripe mango, yellow plums and red-apple ripeness. Interesting smoky accents, chalky nuances and an invigorating bouquet of lemon verbena and lime blossom complete the olfactory experience.

Taste
It beguiles from the first contact with the tongue with its elegance and fine sweetness. Puristic and clear in taste, the juicy, bright fruits unfold a true world of the senses. The acidity balances perfectly with the fruity elements and the delicate sweetness. This Gewürztraminer virtually invites another glass, its refreshing and invigorating nature reflecting the sophisticated style of Zind Humbrecht in 2020. Decanting is recommended to serve it from large glasses.

Wine pairing suggestions
Enjoy this wine as an aperitif accompanied by orange crostinis, refined with a cream of Gewürztraminer. For the main course, braised calf's liver with truffles, green beans, dried apricots and roasted mushrooms could be excellent. Alternatively, a rabbit ragout in filo pastry with kimchi spiced pointed cabbage, a honey and grapefruit dressing and fresh lemon balm.
