Wine Description for „Éclats Rosé“ Édition Speciale Extra Brut 2021/2022 by Jeaunaux-Robin

Colour & Appearance
Luminous, full salmon pink with a fine, persistent mousse – a rosé that already promises energy and character in the glass.
Nose
The nose opens with a seductive lightly smoky note, which elegantly interweaves with ripe stone fruit, wild berries and pomegranate. Lively accents of grapefruit and fresh apple skin join in. The fruit feels round and juicy, yet always precise and focused – not a gram of excess richness.
Palate
On the palate, a silky raspberry and wild strawberry coulis unfolds, underpinned by a discreet hint of cassis. The texture is creamy and inviting, the acidity fresh and invigorating, the tannin – typical of the high Meunier content – barely perceptible, yet structure-giving. The Champagne moves masterfully between restrained richness and forceful vibration, carried by a lively, almost saline minerality.
Finish
Long, fresh and precise. The fruit lingers, the minerality remains – a finish that invites the next sip.
Terroir & Origin
The vines are rooted in a multifaceted subsoil of millstone (Éclats de Meulières), clay, flint and white marl – a terroir that gives the wine its characteristic tension and mineral depth. The name of the Champagne is thus also a homage to the soil from which it springs.
Grape Variety & Vinification
Blend of 60% Pinot Meunier, 30% Pinot Noir and 10% Chardonnay. The rosé character comes from 15% Meunier as red wine, sourced from vines around 45 years old – a silent testament to the depth of this cuvée. The base wines from the vintages 2021 and 2022 rested 30 months sur lattes; disgorging took place in October 2025. The dosage of 4.5 g/l underscores the Extra Brut character: dry, but never harsh.
Food Pairing Suggestions
Ideal with salmon tartare with yuzu, grilled prawns or duck à l’orange. Also a revelation as an elegant companion to charcuterie and mature Brie. Or simply: in the glass, solo, as a pleasure in itself.
Special Features
A Champagne that places the often underestimated Pinot Meunier at its centre and in doing so demonstrates the complexity and sensuality this grape variety from old vines is capable of. Jeaunaux-Robin proves once again that the small Récoltants-Manipulants of Champagne rank among France’s most exciting producers.
