The Domaine Zind-Humbrecht was created under this name in 1959 on the occasion of the marriage of Léonard Humbrecht to Geneviève Zind and from the union of the two wineries Humbrecht in Gueberschwihr and Zind in Wintzenheim. The Humbrecht family was already producing wine at the time of the Thirty Years' War. The Zind-Humbrecht estate, which covered less than five hectares in the early 1960s, grew to forty hectares by the mid-1990s. These include plots in GrandCru sites such as Rangen or Brand . Olivier took over the estate in 1989. The first Master of Wine in the family converted the estate to biodynamic farming in 1999 and is also chairman of Biodyvin. Today, the wines are all produced in large barrels with long lees ageing. Botrytis does not occur in the dry wines.
