Color
The wine shows itself in a slightly translucent garnet red with a purple core clear and shiny in the glass.
Nose
The first nose of this Vernatsch from Kalterer See is almost cuddly and carried by red fruit, reminiscent of a meringue cake with rhubarb. Aromas of wild strawberry, raspberry and red currant complement the fruit. Only after some time does spice come into play in the form of Szechuan pepper, nutmeg and fennel seed. But also this is funnily underlined by the scent of a carrot head, including foam, wafer and chocolate coating.
Palate
This wedge stands for encounter and uncomplicated joie de vivre and, if taken literally, is merely there to keep the door open for guests to come. The 2019 "the wedge" from Manincor meets juicy on the palate with a lean, yet defined body. Its subtly coarse-grained tannins give the middleweight a firm footing, allowing it to revisit its red-berry fruit with a bang in the slightly smoky finish. Best served slightly chilled at 15° C.
