Darviot-Perrin

Pierre-Antonin Darviot von Domaine Darviot-Perrin

Ten generations, one village, one mission: Pierre-Antonin Darviot took over Domaine Darviot-Perrin in Monthélie in 2019 at just 25 years old – and systematically converted the family winery to biodynamic viticulture. His 11 hectares in the Côte de Beaune encompass seven Premier Cru vineyard sites.

What emerges here combines youth with history: Pinot Noirs from vines nearly a hundred years old, vinified without compromise. Certified organic since 2022.

More about Darviot-Perrin

Monthélie: The Village Between the Giants

Monthélie nestles between Meursault and Volnay – two of Burgundy's most illustrious names. Whilst the neighbours command premium prices, Monthélie long remained a well-kept secret. It is precisely here that the Darviot family has owned its most valuable vineyard parcels since the 19th century. The wines combine the silky elegance of Volnay with the mineral depth of Meursault – at a fraction of the price.

A Generation's Transformation

Pierre-Antonin studied oenology in Beaune and gained experience in the Loire and New Zealand. He returned in 2017, and took over the estate in 2019 following his father Jacques's death. His first vintage marked the beginning of a new era: conversion to biodynamic viticulture – a path also pursued consistently by Chandon de Briailles in the Côte de Beaune. Organic certification followed in 2022.

Seven Premier Crus

The 11 hectares are distributed across Monthélie, Volnay, Meursault and Chassagne-Montrachet. The centrepiece is the Volnay 1er Cru "Les Santenots" – a vineyard site on Meursault soil classified as Volnay. The Volnay-Santenots 1er Cru comes from vines planted in 1927: nearly a hundred-year-old Pinot Noir stocks that produce wines of rare concentration.

Cellar Craftsmanship

Pierre-Antonin works with up to 100% whole-bunch fermentation – the stems impart floral notes and silky tannins to the wines. The Volnay-Gigotte 1er Cru ages in used barrels with a maximum of 25% new oak. No fining, no filtration, minimal sulphur additions. The result: Burgundies of classical elegance that impress both young and mature.
