Wine profile:
The Pündericher Marienburg is known for its south-facing slopes, which provide optimal sun exposure. The soil, largely consisting of weathered grey slate, is home to robust vines that can even withstand dry periods. Clemens Busch handpicked ripe grapes with a botrytis content of about 10 percent for his Spätlese Goldkapsel. After fermenting spontaneously in old Fuder barrels, the harvest is chilled and drawn off at an alcohol level of about 7.5 percent. These Prädikat wines are usually bottled in May.

Color:
This Riesling shows itself in a bright, sparkling golden yellow, interspersed with delicate green reflections.

Scent:
The 2022 Marienburg Riesling Spätlese Goldkapsel is rather restrained at first, but a rich bouquet hides beneath the smoky and dense minerality. After decanting, wonderful aromas of green apple, citrus fruit, sweet pear, blossom honey and elder unfold, all subtly intertwined and surprising in their fragrance and elegance. It seems that a masterpiece announces its arrival.

Taste:
On the palate, the fruit notes and flavours dance in a lively samba. The refreshing acidity is underpinned by a fine sweetness and a salty note. The wine seems to float and at the same time impresses with its intensity. It is still at the beginning of its development and will unfold its full splendour and richness of facets with a little maturity. Patient connoisseurs will be rewarded with a true firework of the senses.

Gastronomic recommendations:
Discover this wine in combination with a crisp salad of radishes and daikon, rounded off with some lemon verbena leaves. Also try a lukewarm dish of rhubarb, beetroot and salmon, or a light curd soufflé served with strawberries nestled in a touch of elderberry.
