Deep in the Vigna Strada stretches the dreamlike vineyard that produces the esteemed Bombolieri. The high limestone content of the soil is special, stretching along the slopes of the majestic Serra San Bartolo. Soils ranging from maroon to creamy white in colour dominate the landscape, with the fine sandy surface reaching a depth of only 25 cm. Solid limestone formations are hidden just below. Part of this exquisite site is characterised by clayey limestone soil, which contrasts markedly with the others in its white appearance. Every year, 2700 bottles of an exquisite wine are produced here.
Color
Its colour charms as a shimmering bright garnet red, interspersed with violet reflections.
Scent
The 2020 Bombolieri reveals its fragrance in the form of fruity aromas of red currants, juicy sour cherries, wild raspberries and tangy cranberries. This fruit potpourri is complemented by the aromatic notes of rosemary and thyme, accompanied by floral nuances of wild roses and ivy. An unmistakable graphite note and a hint of incense round off the harmonious overall picture.
Taste
This excellent wine impresses with an intense acidity on the palate, like a delicious mixture of blood orange and lemon. This amalgamates perfectly with its salty component and the spicy, yet exquisitely fine tannin. A highly interesting, lively wine - best served slightly chilled to indulge in Sicilian dreams. Enjoy it ideally from Burgundy glasses.
Food recommendations
Try this wine with marinated aubergines with tomatoes, sultanas and pine nuts fried crispy in a parmesan breading. It also goes perfectly with lasagne with veal, luscious tomatoes, creamy ricotta and fresh pesto. Another highlight can be the combination with juicy pulled pork and aromatic oranges in a crispy ciabatta.
