Wine information
Pure-grained Rosso from Sangiovese from 3.5 hectares on Monte Amiata at an altitude of 600 metres. The soil is characterised by carbonate and limestone marl. The vines are 15 years old and are in conversion to biodynamics. The wine was fermented spontaneously with about 20 % whole grapes and matured in stainless steel.
Color
quite intense but transparent cherry red
Nose
The 2020 Rosso by Bakkanali provides a fine scent of wild strawberries and raspberries, especially sour cherries and some blood orange. The whole is mixed with a touch of rust and herbs, of some earth, rock and leather.
Mouth
On the palate, the Sangiovese appears fresh and juicy with lots of red fruit, which is rendered unadulterated by the stainless steel ageing. The minerality of the carbonate rock is just as sparkling here as the slight saltiness and the lively acidity. In addition, however, there is a ripe sweetness in the fruit, which is enclosed by a silky tannin and leads into a pleasantly long finish.
