Info

This single-varietal Timorasso comes from the Colli Tortonesi DOC. The Vietti team gladly makes the one-hour drive from Castiglione Faletto in Barolo to be able to bring in this outstanding white wine.

Only selected plots of the Monleale Alto commune find their way into this bottling. The sites are exposed to the southeast and southwest and are based on Marne di Sant'Agata, a blue-grey calcareous marl.

After the harvest in mid-September, the grapes are destemmed, cold macerated overnight and then gently pressed. Fermentation is prolonged to four weeks. Most of the fermenting must is kept in ceramic tanks and smaller batches in stainless steel tanks and large, neutral wooden barrels. Biological acid degradation is avoided and the wine is matured in the same container for almost ten months. With the help of battonage - stirring up the fine yeast - the yeast contact is intensified and thus the texture is influenced.

Nose

This wine from the autochthonous grape variety Timorasso comes from the Colli Tortonesi. Concisely, this character wine does not come close to the fruit. It is much more characterised by stony, spicy but also floral elements. White peach, pear and yellow apples can be detected discreetly. The fruit is never overblown and not even slightly overripe. Daisies, jasmine and orchid would be the dominant flowers on the nose. It also shows a hint of almond and apple blossom. Freshly sliced almond kernels appear next to a nuance of lavender soap, barely concealing its proximity to the Mediterranean. Restrained, it reveals oregano, marjoram and thyme in dried form.

Palate

On the palate, it seamlessly follows on from the expectations. It now seems much more yellow-fruited and the fruit itself much more charming than was to be expected. But here, too, the fruit is not the star. It seems stony, clear and is absolutely precisely developed. It is carried by pleasant bitter tannins along with a hint of saltiness. This is a strong contrast to the fruit and the floral nuances. But the bitterness is well balanced and serves a very animating purpose. In the finish, the fine herbal spiciness now comes out much more intensely. The yellow and white flowers can also show off again.
