Wine Description for Riesling Beblenheim B.B.H.M. 2021 from Trapet Alsace

Colour & Appearance
Medium, radiant straw yellow with brilliant clarity – a Riesling that already reveals its precision in the glass.
Nose
Bright and crystalline in its aromatics. Dominant notes of Amalfi lemons and citron, threaded through with a subtle reduction that lends the wine a fascinating smokiness. The Jurassic limestone makes itself distinctly felt, accompanied by fresh herbs and delicate white flowers with subtle sweetness.
Palate
Here the B.B.H.M. reveals its true greatness: A deep mineral vibration runs through the entire palate, creating that electrifying tension which distinguishes great Rieslings. The ripe, lively acidity is perfectly integrated with the rich citric fruit and crisp stone fruit. A saline component underscores the maritime freshness. Powerful and penetrating, yet always bright and precise – a wine of remarkable energy.
Finish
Long, mineral and vibrant. The tension on the tip of the tongue persists, carried by sustained freshness and saline minerality.
Terroir & Origin
The village wine hails from Beblenheim in Alsace, from one hectare of Jurassic limestone parcels that have been planted with Riesling since the time of Pierre and Louis Trapet’s great-grandparents. This limestone soil fundamentally shapes the wine and imparts its characteristic mineral depth.
Grape Variety & Vinification
100% Riesling, aged in concrete eggs – a method that lends the wine structure without masking the crystalline purity of the fruit. 13% alcohol, vinified dry.
Food Pairing Recommendations
The saline minerality and acidity structure make it the ideal partner for king crab in papaya remoulade, cod with nori seaweed and lemon butter or the classic Coq au Riesling. Also excellent with raw fish and oysters.
Special Characteristics
A village wine with vineyard site potential – the combination of historic parcels, Jurassic limestone and precise vinification makes the B.B.H.M. a Riesling that unites Alsatian tradition with contemporary winemaking.
