Wine description for Zero Brut Nature, Base 2016 375ml from Tarlant

Colour & appearance

Pale golden yellow with a fine, elegant perlage that bears witness to the six years of ageing on the lees.

Nose

A seductive bouquet unfolds with Nougat and roasted hazelnutsaccompanied by multi-layered citrus notes - from fresh zest through to Salt lemons. Mineral notes of crushed rock and subtle herbal spice round off the complex flavour profile.

Palate

The true class of this champagne is revealed on the palate: powerful and subtle at the same time. The lively acidity structure - enhanced by the deliberate avoidance of malolactic fermentation - gives the wine an electrifying freshness. Citrus notes dominate elegantly over Pome fruit and nutty aspects, while the basic mineral structure provides depth and complexity. The lack of dosage emphasises the pure, unadorned elegance.

General information

This exceptional cuvée of 32% Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Meunier and 4% of rare grape varieties such as Arbanne and Petit Meslier represents Tarlant's uncompromising philosophy. Spontaneous fermentation, six months of ageing on the lees in Burgundian pièces and blending with reserve wines from the Réserve Perpétuelle create a masterpiece of the art of Champagne. Disgorged in July 2023 after more than six years of ageing.

Food pairing suggestions

The mineral precision and lively acidity make this champagne the ideal companion for Hamachi with daikon cress, Seafood croquettes or surprisingly also for Burrata with flowersprouts and harissa. The versatility emphasises the class of this zero-dosage champagne.

Special features

An authentic Brut Nature without any dosage, reflecting the pure essence of Champagne. The use of rare grape varieties and consistently natural vinification make this champagne a true expression of the terroir of Maison Tarlant.
