Wine information
The Somni is a cuvée of Cariñena and Syrah from mainly old vines. The vines stand at an altitude of 320 to 360 meters in Llicorella slate weathered soil with high iron content. The grapes were harvested in the first three weeks of October. The grapes were sorted out berry by berry, fermented for 24 days in steel fermenters and aged for twelve months in large French wood.

Nose
If you give the Somni a lot of air, then a wonderful and lavishly ripe bouquet of cassis, plums, cherries, elderberries, sloe and blood oranges unfolds already now. All of this is found in both liqueur and fresh form, as it were. Arribas plays with overripe here, but is so precise that he walks the exact line and never loses balance. The lush fruit is underpinned by bay and sage, licorice, mocha, charcoal, peat and dark tobacco. As befits a full-grown wine from Priorat, there is a clear, cool, mineral component to the aroma that inimitably balances the warmth of the fruit.
Mouth
On the palate, of course, the wine is just as ripe and rich as the nose suggested. The beauty is The lush fruit is not at all filling, thanks to the cool, fresh component, but highly stimulating. The Somni combines power and juice, elegance and demand, challenge and finesse. It is a hedonistic wine, a sensual wine, whose ostensible fruit is never clumsy, but always buffered by minerality and fine acidity, elegant wood and fine tannin. This is very skilfully done.
