The 2018 Rosso comes from the vineyards of Pian dell'Orino and the central part of Pian Bassolino and expresses the diversity of its soils Calcareous clay, weathered marl, blue-grey limestone from the Pliocene and flysch soils are the main sediments. The grapes stand at 320 m to 500 m above sea level, and the average vine age for this Rosso is 20 years.
After multiple rigorous sorting of the grapes during manual harvesting in the vineyard, grape reception and at the sorting table, spontaneous fermentation began immediately, reached a maximum temperature of 31° degrees and was finished after 15 days. The wine then macerated on the skins for another 12 days before it was pressed and made comfortable in 25-hectolitre oak barrels for 25 months.
Color
Ruby red, bright and clear.
Nose
Black cherries, blackberries and a hint of cassis outline the precisely drawn nose of the 2018 Rosso di Montalcino from Pian dell'Orino. In addition to the primary, dark-fruity aromas, hints of mild spices such as juniper and delicate toasted notes emerge. A fruity, joyful Rosso with unbridled drinking appeal.
Mouth
Super juicy with ripe fruit and invigorating freshness, it is extract-rich and almost fleshy on the palate with youthful tannins. High-pile and velvety on the tongue, the tannins contour its exuberant fruit and give it its unique, ruby-red polish. Animatingly tart on the finish with an ethereal fruity finish.
