Info about the wine
The Riesling "vom blauen Schiefer" is the second wine from the Fahrlay area. This steep slope is located directly next to the Pünderich ferry landing stage and is the only area of the Pünderich Marienburg where blue slate dominates. This type of slate is significantly harder than the grey or red slate. The vines have a hard time at first until their roots have penetrated into the deep, watery crevices of the slate. From there, however, they are then optimally supplied with stored water and minerals.
Color
Medium strong, sparkling golden yellow.
Nose
The 2018 Riesling VDP local wine from the blue slate barrel 67 shows itself extremely precise with beautiful maturity and at the same time youthful freshness. Its beguiling bouquet is reminiscent of pear, apple, vineyard peach, grapefruit, rosemary, lemongrass, wild mint and ginger. Its elegant direction and cool presence are already clearly felt in the nose.
Palate
On the tongue, it fascinates with a tart fruity orientation. The grapefruit in particular, along with the fine tannin, makes you literally want to chew this wine, and the salty and mineral trace further reinforces this impression. It is great that we are able to enjoy this mature drop, which can already be perfectly combined with creative dishes at this point in time and which still has the potential to mature for at least five years.
