Color:
In bright straw-yellow with discreet white-golden reflexes the wine shows itself clearly and brilliantly in the glass.
Nose:
The engaging, eager nature inherent in lime is immediately evident in the garb of this terroir Riesling, supported by a gossamer reduction. The latter makes the wine, shortly after opening the bottle, initially give you the cold shoulder, but immediately unlocks the chains that captivate its beauty. The nose of the wine sways back and forth between fruit-laden aromas of green apple skin, kumquats and mirabelle plum and herbal ethereal notes of orange blossom, sage and a hint of white tea.
Palate:
On the palate, Odinstal's 2017 Riesling Muschelkalk is fervently full of mouthwatering nonchalance. Chiseling acidity cuts an arrow-straight path down the gullet, while yellow-fleshed fruit wallows sheer lust in the mouth cavity. Stony and barren, its finish inevitably makes it clear that fullness and density do not go hand in hand with heaviness, but are better not confused. This wine has emphatic power without carrying it in front of you.
