In 2002, Steffen and Daniela Mugler took over the Schädler winery in Maikammer. The winery was modernized, while the structures of the family winery were maintained and converted to biodynamic cultivation. For Muglers, the rhythm of nature is paramount, starting from the basis of all life - the soil. Strengthening the vines in the sense of a natural circular economy is the prerequisite for the best grapes for the best wines. From the harvest to the maturation, all steps are done by hand.
Color
Rich straw yellow, bright and clear.
Nose
Citrus, lemon balm and verbena outline the overtone range of Steffen Mugler's 2019 Maikammer Kirchenstück Riesling. Founded on green apricots, the white of Amalfi lemons and dried herbs, the wine oscillates between joyful fruit and spice, underpinned by saline notes of wet stone and wet table chalk.
Mouth
Crystalline and polished on the palate, with juicy fruit and a wide-ranging acidity. Precisely and vertically it flows over the palate and seems without a gram of fat on the ribs thereby in no way meager, quite the opposite Everything is in the right proportion and in the right place, with slightly rough feel driven by profound minerality and rushing drinking flow.
Food recommendations from Sebastian Bordthäuser
