Out of stock

medium lemon yellow - Although this Riesling comes from the same vineyard as Im Sonnenschein, the »Siebeldinger Ganshorn« plot offers a completely different terroir, and thus the wine called Ganz Horn also has a different appearance. While »Im Sonnenschein« is characterised by old Triassic soils with shell limestone, this parcel is still young, dates from the Pleistocene and consists mainly of gravel with red sandstone, gravel and loam.

Wine information

Most of the vineyards on the edge of the Haard in the transition from the Rhine plain to the Palatinate Forest face east. However, the Siebeldingen site »Im Sonnenschein« is actually in the sunshine; for it is exposed to the south. The vineyard lies at 160 to 250 metres and has a slope of 5 to 20 %. The Riesling is in the »Siebeldinger Ganshorn« plot within the »Im Sonnenschein« site. While »Im Sonnenschein« is characterised by old Triassic soils with shell limestone, this parcel is still young, dates from the Pleistocene and consists mainly of gravel with red sandstone, gravel and loam. Since this vintage, to avoid confusion, the wine is only called All horn designated. The wine was matured after destemming and a maceration period of about 24 hours. After pre-clarification and natural sedimentation, fermentation followed in stainless steel and then a six-month aging on the fine lees.

Nose

Although this Riesling comes from the same vineyard site as In the sunshinethe parcel »Siebeldinger Ganshorn" offers a completely different terroir, and therefore the All horn named wine also has a different appearance. In the fragrance this shows Great Growth a little warmer than its sibling this year. The attack is fruitcake with airy yeast dough and, with it, a fine, ripe sweetness. The scent reminds of white-fleshed stone fruit, of pome fruit and a little of lemon.

Mouth

On the palate the All horn wonderfully silky as well as creamy with a slight phenolic note and a little tannic texture. There is a lot of power in this wine, a lot of grip on the palate, and it has impressive depth and length. As it goes out the back it gets spicier and spicier, more and more tannic and also cooler and cooler. What still smelled like warm fruitcake on the nose is now liquid stone, enriched with lime juice and salt. What an astonishing transformation this wine has undergone. Great Growth!
