Colour scheme
A bright straw yellow, subtly infused with soft green undertones.
Bouquet
The 2018 Ratepenat presents itself as a pleasantly restrained wine, characterised by subtle fruit aromas of apple, pear and honeydew melon. Hints of unobtrusive floral aromas, yeast and bread dough as well as a slight nuance of verveine tea come in as soon as it gets some air. Already in its fragrance, this wine embodies a purist and unadulterated attitude.
Taste
It glides over the tongue with great ease, revealing yeasty and finely spicy notes that combine harmoniously with the fresh fruit notes of the aroma. Its invigorating acidity is excellently integrated and excellently balanced. This wine will particularly delight those who do not have a penchant for overbearing fruity wines. It is also the perfect partner for a cuisine that is just as restrained and modest as itself.
Food recommendations:
Try it with a carpaccio of chanterelles, lightly salted, or with partridge breast in a slightly nutty sauce, accompanied by Jerusalem artichokes and star anise. It is equally perfect with crispy fried pike served with a cream of potatoes and artichokes.
