Wine information
Olivier Humbrecht
Pinot Gris, a distinctive wine, finds its home high up in the vineyards of Heimbourg in Turckheim. Facing west and enveloped by cool winds on the steep slope, this vineyard enjoys special weather. In contrast to the opposite Rotenberg, Heimbourg benefits from extra sunlight in the evening, which probably makes a certain difference - higher aromatics - in its wines. The concise soil consists of energetic Oligocene limestone with oolitic pebbles. This almost violent geology leaves a strong impact on the wine.
Extension details
Pinot Gris, often compared to its relative Pinot Noir, requires a strong terroir presence to fully develop its greatness and beauty. Unfortunately, the 2021 harvest was of lesser quantity, but the grapes were healthy, resulting in a full, dry fermentation of the wine.

Scent
The Pinot Gris Heimbourg 2021 unfolds a welcome freshness on the nose. Flavours of young pear, peach, grapefruit begin the aromatic spectacle. With sufficient aeration, additional notes of light tobacco and smoke unfold, which blend harmoniously with hints of flint - an impressive, invigorating start.
Taste experience
The first sip reveals an invigorating freshness. The juicy fruit is accompanied by a balanced acidity. This Pinot Gris, a harom model of real Alsatian Pinot Gris, causes one to want to sip again. This helps to make it a wonderful companion for various dishes. At the same time, the wine harbours incredible ageing potential, the exploration of which promises an exciting journey.
Indulgence tips
Aerate the wine sufficiently and serve it not too cold in large Burgundy glasses.
Alternative food recommendations
Try it with a salad of lime and avocado, enlivened with mint. Fine seafood in phyllo batter with sugar snap peas and carrots complements it perfectly. Or indulge your palate with veal heart paired with preserved lemons, navettes and cumin.
