Wine information
The vineyard is located in Poisy in Haute-Savoie. It enjoys a temperate continental climate with a view of the nearby Mont Blanc. The Mondeuse grapes come from a total of two hectares, spread over three vineyards, some of which are extremely steep and lie between 350 and 450 metres above sea level. The terroir can be found in Desingy, Collonges and Peillonnex. The soils are a mixture of calcareous clay, glacial debris and rock. The yield is 20 hl/h. The grapes are destemmed at 90 % to avoid astringency and matured over two winters in older barrels before the wine is bottled unfiltered.
Color
Quite transparent garnet red
Nose
The Quintessence de Mondeuse offers a complex yet drinkable aroma of sweet, concentrated cherries, some elderberries and blackberries, a hint of mint, cinnamon and cubeb pepper, but also very fine, subtle notes of wood. The Mondeuse is juicy and extremely fresh.
Palate
On the palate, you almost get the impression that Gamay is paired with Syrah. The Quintessence offers impressive tension, juiciness and transparency. The aromas are reminiscent of cherries and cherry stones, some pomegranate juice and blood orange, red berries and dark fermentation notes of black cardamom, tobacco and tea. The tannins are polished and the acidity is clear and vibrant like a mountain stream. Everything flows and appears pure and clear.
