The cuvée of 90 % Corinto and 10 % Nero d'Avola is grown at 350 m altitude on volcanic and sandy soil. Spontaneous fermentation in wooden barrels for one year, followed by stabilization in steel tanks. Bottled unadulterated and unfiltered.
Color
Bright, dark cherry red, light reflexes
Nose
The Nero Ossidiana from Tenuta di Castellaro offers an ambivalent start. On the one hand, it presents dark and spicy aromas. On the other hand, there are bright, clear notes. Morello cherries, blackberries, toasted wood and black pepper are dominant and prominent. Cinnamon and star anise are also present. White currants, raspberry and jasmine blossoms counteract. They break through the intensity again and again. The cuvée of Corinto and Nero d'Avola seems benevolently Christmasy, warming and at the same time enlivened by lightness.
Palate
At the palate it shows itself too first cool and elegant. The volcanic rock provides a fine polish and a mineral mouthfeel. At the same time, it appears in a very fleshy texture. Despite all the dark impressions, the fruit now appears lighter and brighter. Especially rosehip and currants stand out. The delicate tannin provides a positive accent. On the palate, it prances playfully and seductively. The juiciness invites to empty the bottle in big gulps. In the aftertaste, it now also shows a little oregano and dark stone fruit.
