Info
The Moscato Bianco comes from selected small vineyard parcels in and around Castiglione Tinella. The vines, on average about 40 years old, are planted on limestone marl soils. Guyot vine training with an average planting density of about 4,500 vines per hectare.
The grapes, harvested by hand at the end of August to the beginning of September, 2022 was a very early harvest, were gently pressed immediately after the harvest, after which the must was clarified naturally - statically. The must was then stored in stainless steel tanks at a very low temperature to avoid spontaneous fermentation. During the course of the year, small batches of the must were then brought to alcoholic fermentation, with yeast added to the must, which was warmed to 12 - 14°C. This takes place in a pressure tank. This takes place in a pressure tank in order to preserve the carbonic acid produced during alcoholic fermentation. When an alcohol content of about 5.5 %/vol. was reached, fermentation was interrupted by rapid cooling and filtration. This only partially fermented wine was bottled in this way. Biological acid reduction was avoided in order to preserve the fruit aromas and freshness.
Color
Bright lemon yellow with green reflections and constant mousseux
Nose
The 2022 Moscato d'Asti from Vietti conveys exactly what it is supposed to be! The fruit is pleasant and restrained. Lemon zest vies for dominance alongside grapefruit and a little lime. Its obligatory muscat tone lays over it like a film. Yellow and white flowers provide plenty of elegance and finesse. A fine scent of blossom honey comes in very handy.
Palate
On the palate, it again exactly fulfils the expectations and yet shows so much more. The fruit is paired with lightness, elegance and nonchalant drinking pleasure. The pleasantly measured mousseux provides some fullness and complexity. The carbonic acid keeps the level of drinkability and lightness high. The acidity and fruit in the finish balance it out with the obvious sweetness. Always in contrast, always aiming for drinkability and fun. In the aftertaste, the citrus fruits come to the fore again, along with honey and flowers.
