Nose
The 2014 Cottá Barbarresco establishes depth on the nose, with beguiling aromas of dark earth, black truffle, licorice and fine dark chocolate pouring from the glass. With the requisite oxygen contact, Amarena cherries, pickled dark berries, dark plum jam and dried dates join in. Marinated and grilled Mediterranean herbs add an ethereal and refreshing touch.
Palate
On the palate, the 2014 Cottá Barbarresco conveys the charm of the nose with lots of fruit and juiciness, which seems to be interwoven with fine-grained and at the same time grippy tannins and a fine acidity. It shows itself already pleasantly open and charming and one guesses already his full splendour which he will show if he has arrived in the stadium of his drinking maturity. A wonderful Barbaresco that beguiles with its juicy and charming structure and mineral freshness. Who would like to open him in his youthful stage already does well to decant him with at least 2 hours beforehand.
