Wine information
The Silvaner from the vineyard Maustal, a four-hectare vineyard south of Sulzfeld am Main, facing south and southeast. The steep slope is characterized by meager and skeleton-rich upper shell limestone. The vines for the Silvaner are the oldest vines planted by the estate itself. As always at Weingut Zehnthof Luckert, the grapes are harvested by hand, then raked, allowed a slightly longer maceration period, and fermented spontaneously. Luckert's wines are aged in classic double barrels made of Franconian oak.

Nose
Luckerts Silvaner Maustal is every year a shining example of how exciting, bright and clear Silvaner can be. The 2018 also shows this impressively with an opening of citrus aromas and those reminiscent of still unripe pineapple. Both are underpinned by chalky, chalky notes. With air and warmth the wine becomes more piquant. Then, in addition to a slight yeasty sweetness, there is a little celery, nuts and legumes, but also yellow fruity and floral aromas, furthermore saffron and pepper.
Palate
On the palate it is mainly pears, mirabelles with warm notes as well as citrus fruits with fresh cool notes that set the tone. These are gripping and juicy, create pressure on the palate and combine there with a light tannin. The Silvaner also gets nuttier and spicier on the palate with warmth, with spice reminiscent of tobacco, licorice and even a bit of anise seed. The Silvaner is complex, slightly salty on the long, but currently not fully developed finish. This is a wine with great potential. Give it time.
