Wine information
Old Maustal, lower shell limestone, approx. 25 year old vines,
Color
Muted garnet red with violet reflections.
Nose
The 2020 Maustaler Spätburgunder GG has graphite and earthy notes as well as a still youthful and refreshing fruit, reminiscent of sour cherries, wild raspberries, redcurrants and pomegranate. Its fragrant, youthful character is femininely characterised by distinct floral roses, ivy and elderberry. Elegant and Burgundian finesse on the nose.
Palate
On the palate, it is dancing, lively and youthful. Its acidity is pleasantly fresh and challenging, the tannin structure is fine-grained and savoury and the long finish promises great development potential. If you want to enjoy it at this youthful stage, you would do well to decant it into a carafe.
