Wine overview
Situated in the prestigious Châteauneuf-du-Pape appellation, the Armenian family owns 13 parcels with a kaleidoscopic range of soil types. Everything from the renowned pebbles that enclose clay-rich, waterlogged layers of subsoil to reddish sandstone, colluvial sediments and Cretaceous limestone soils that add subtle tension to the wine completes this sophisticated blend. The grape varieties are dominated by the predominant Grenache Noir, which picks up subtle accents of Mourvèdre, Syrah and Cinsault. Each grape is handpicked to ensure optimal ripeness, which varies by plot and varietal. After destemming and crushing, the must is cooled and placed in tanks where it awaits the awakening of the natural yeasts. The fermentation is carefully monitored to ensure perfect temperature control. The must is then subjected to a maceration period of four to five weeks to optimally extract the aromas. The wine is aged for 18 months in concrete tanks, complemented by some barrels and older 350-litre barrels.

Appearance
A deep dark red colour that still retains its youthful freshness, dominated by a ruby rim.

Bouquet
An overflowing bouquet with highly concentrated aromas of black figs, wild blackberries, sweet raspberries and blood oranges is accompanied by notes of violets, Provence herbs, fresh leather and pepper, accompanied by berry alcohol notes. As the concentration of air in the glass increases, the bouquet unfolds to reveal an impressive depth and purity.

Taste
It immediately fills the mouth with a velvety texture and stands out for its enormous body and impressive concentration, yet it is by no means aggressive or heavy. An opulent sweet fruit of red berries spreads out and papers the palate. The ripe, noble and embedded tannins bring in a hint of cocoa, while a fine-grained structure and minerality add dynamism and persistence. This wine has excellent ageing potential.

Recommended pairings
Try this wine with a legumes à la provençale tian, a terrine of wild boar with black truffles or a gardiane de taureau with Camargue rice. Alternative recommendations include coq au vin, osso buco and ratatouille.
