Information
Carignan Gris from the Piémont Pyrénéen region. The vines stand partly on pure slate soil, partly on granite at an altitude of 500 and 200 metres - about half an hour from the winery. The majority of the vines were planted in 1961. The berries were fermented spontaneously and aged in used wood.

Nose
Imalaya is a Carignan Gris that sums up the speciality of this grape variety. It is a wine with a reduced yet intense bouquet, reminiscent of roasted sesame, dried stone fruit, candied ginger, lemons and crushed stone. On top, there is a hint of garrigue and lemon peel.
Palate
On the palate, the Imalaya the typical elegance inherent in all Marjorie Gallet wines. What one does not necessarily expect in the bouquet, however, is the impressive citrus brightness, the sharpness and the acidity that the Imalaya offers here. This is a wine as sharp as a blade, yet without any fullness or fat, instead balanced, mouth-wateringly salty, fine in composition with bright fruit, the finest caramel, herbs and crushed stone. An electrifying wine of the south.
