Color
Ruby red with youthful violet reflections.
Nose
The 2015 Graupert from Meinklang on Lake Neusiedl offers a wild and spicy staging of Zweigelt on the nose. Graupert, which means wild or unkempt in Burgenland dialect, is anything but groomed on the nose. A wild mix of ripe red fruits, cherries, plums and mulberries mixes with spicy notes of black pepper, allspice and cloves and are underpinned by wildly growing meadow with herbs and flowers.
Mouth
The palate is juicy with taut fruit and fresh acidity. The red fruits are reflected on the palate, cherries and Zibärtle are tartly flanked by herbal notes and youthfully shaggy tannins, which congenially underline the rustic charm of the original. No Zweigelt on steroids, but an undisguised, unaffected drink with a joyful nature.
