Info about the wine
Grown on volcanic rock with loess overlay.
Information on the expansion
One year in large wooden barrels, partly spontaneous fermentation, partly malolactic fermentation.
Color
Iridescent golden yellow.
Nose
A beguiling aroma of quince, apple and citrus mixed with subtle yeasty notes and a discreet toasted note pours from the glass of the 2020 Oberberger Bassgeige Chardonnay VDP.Erste Lage. All components are very harmoniously intertwined, and one looks forward to the first sip.
Palate
On the tongue, juicy fruit combines with invigorating acidity and a fine phenolic that stimulates the palate and leaves it wanting more. The fine roasted aroma from the ageing in wood is well integrated into the melting of the wine and the delicate salty note gives it mineral depth. A wine, how could it be otherwise in the house of Keller, that serves the food.
